Apprentice in the studio of the painter Jan Esmann. This was practical training as well as theoretical studies. The practice of in depth analysis of artworks of one's own, aswell as works from various periods and schools. Visits at museums and exhibitions were a vital part of the education. Equated to the level of a BA in Fine Arts.

Madrid - Spain, Spanish studies at La Universidad Complutense de Madriden La Facultad de Filología. Drawing studies during this period at a Spanish drawing school.
